I Introduction of Elastomeric Bridge Bearing 1.Elastomeric Bearings and Strip

A bearing consists of rubber layers separated by vulcanized steel- plates. A rubber cover is fitted around this assembly.
Natural rubber or Chloroprene rubber is used for the layers.
Elastomeric Bearings provide an excellent economic solution for applications where structure movements, longitudinal, transverse and rotational are too small to moderate. They provide vibration isolation and are generally simple to install.
In strip form they can be laid along a diaphragm to support multiple beams.
Plain pads are available in standard or special sizes. Laminated types provide a robust bearing for larger structures and can also be configured in sliding types.

Natural rubber is not too sensitive to changes in temperature and shows only slight growth in deformation, over the period of deformation at a constant load (low creep). Natural rubber is highly resistent against ozone, ageing, UV and chemical effects.
The vulcanized steel reinforcement plates meet the requirements.
2. Elastomeric bearing pads

Elastomeric bearing pads have become the standard for both steel and concrete bridge structures throughout China. They are reliable, inexpensive, and maintenance-free with a service life that typically exceeds that of the bridge superstructure itself.
Simply put, the bearing transfers vertical loads from the superstructure to the substructure while allowing limited horizontal movement (for thermal expansion and contraction of the bridge's structural girders), as well as rotational movement of the supported members.
In China, most bearing pads are made of either natural rubber or polychloroprene (Neoprene). Both of these compounds have been time-proven over several decades. With the addition of internal steel reinforcement layers, the load capacity of the bearing increases dramatically. Bridge design engineers can specify the size and configuration of a bearing to accommodate the specific load, shear, and rotational requirements at each point.

Bearings with a large number of steel shims relative to the overall volume of rubber can handle higher loads and shear forces. By contrast, bearings with wider spacing of the steel shims can provide excellent vibration isolation characteristics, and are often used in theaters and concert halls. By manipulating a small number of variables, engineers can design an elastomeric bearing to suit most any application.
3. Elastomeric bearings

Elastomeric bearings normally consist of a number of rubber layers separated by steel plates normally molded in pads or strips and are ideally suited for small structures to accommodate movements by deformation shear and rotations. Elastomeric bearings provide an excellent economic solution for applications where structure movements, longitudinal, transverse and rotational are small, provide vibration isolation and are generally simple to install. Neoprene rubber laminated Elastomeric bearings are relatively maintenance free but will degrade over time and require replacement.

Plain and laminated neoprene elastomeric bearings are manufactured by both in neoprene and natural rubber compounds confirming to standards. Bridge bearings and bridge bearing pads are manufactured in neoprene rubber compounds, unless otherwise specified for natural rubber compound. Our specialization is always in neoprene compound and bridge bearings, elastomeric, pads, high damping neoprene rubber bearings are manufactured from our years of experience, and with support from our technical partners for all requirements of neoprene bridge bearing, neoprene bridge bearings rubber bearing, steel bearing, Pot Bearing, guided bearing, for all bridge and building bearing applications.

Elastomeric bridge bearing are a must in modern bridge building. bridge bearings include neoprene bearing pads, neoprene bridge bearings, laminated elastomeric bearings seismic isolators referred bridge bearing pads in construction industry. Internal structure consists sandwich of mild steel shims neoprene rubber moulded one unit. Elastomeric bearing pads compress on vertical load accommodate horizontal rotation provide lateral shear movement. Elastomeric bearing pads most economical solution for construction of large span bridges and buildings.
II Suitable temperature range of elastomeric bridge bearing
1. Natural Rubber : applicable temperature -25° C~50° C.
2. Neoprene Rubber: applicable temperature -40° C~80° C.
3. EPDM Rubber: applicable temperature -40° C~80° C.
Normally, The rubber material for elastomeric bearings are requested to used in different areas, sometimes in different projects.
III Advantage and performance of rubber bridge bearing
1 Fine technical performance
2 simple structure
3 low price
4 no maintenance
5 easy to change
6 buffering and shock isolating
7 low building height
Elastomeric rubber bridge bearings shall be composed of multiple laminates of elastomeric material separated by steel reinforcing the overall size of the bearings the number of laminates and thickness of laminates are designed in accordance to the requirement of load to be transferred.Bearings having steel plates as reinforcement shall be cast/compression molded / vulcanized as single unit in a mold under pressure and heat.
IV Manufacturing Process of rubber bridge bearing

• Preparation of rubber compound according to specification required
• Preparation of steel plates
• Application of bonding agent to steel plates
• Assembly of compound and plates
• Compression moulding
• Performance Test
• Ready for installation

V STANDARDS
European standard and ASTM standard.
VI what's the steps of the installation of the rubber pad
(1) in the block before the installation, should support measurement inspection of the installation position, the sliding or rolling bearing installation plane should support plane parallel to the parallel degree of deviation should not be more than 2 ‰.
(2) response activities block before installation pedestal roof and floor of the relative position for inspection.
(3) block after installation, rolling and sliding plane should be level, with the theory of plane Angle is not greater than 2 ‰.Bearing, in response to the lower center, the deviation is not more than 2 ‰.
(4) in order to ensure leveling block installation, should be in commonly between bearing base and title cushion stone top, dao built 20 ~ 50 mm thick harsh non-shrinkage mortar pad.
